ASIFA-Hollywood has launched its first Annie Awards Qualifying Festival List, creating a new route for winners at selected animation festivals to enter the awards process.

ASIFA-Hollywood has launched its first-ever Annie Awards Qualifying Festival List, expanding the awards pathway for animation festivals around the world.

The organization said top prize winners at qualifying festivals will be eligible to submit to corresponding Annie categories without paying a submission fee. The announcement was published April 23.

The inaugural list includes Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, Kaboom Animation Festival, Animafest Zagreb, Animation Is Film, Animayo International Film Festival and Fantoche International Animation Film Festival.

ASIFA-Hollywood said the list will be reviewed and updated annually. That gives the program room to grow as the organization evaluates which festivals should be added in future years.

The new system creates a more direct link between major animation festivals and the Annie Awards, which are among the best-known honors in the animation industry.
