The Nationals recalled right-hander Zak Kent from Triple-A Rochester and optioned Andre Granillo, adding a fresh arm to the bullpen after Kent’s recent debut against Minnesota.

The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Zak Kent from Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday and optioned right-hander Andre Granillo to Rochester.

Nationals president of baseball operations Paul Toboni announced the move.

Kent joined Washington after being claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Twins on May 3. He made his Nationals debut in Washington’s win over Minnesota on May 6.

The roster move gives Washington another fresh bullpen arm as it continues through the early part of the season.

Kent’s brief first stint with the Nationals now comes with a return to the majors after a quick stop in Triple-A.
