In a single-center review from Ankara, babies whose shunts failed had far higher mortality than those without failure. The analysis also found that preoperative hematocrit had some ability to distinguish shunt failure, while several pre- and postoperative factors were associated with neonatal death.

Researchers used onion-peel extract to make O3, a zinc oxide preparation tested on human A549 lung adenocarcinoma cells. The cells showed lower viability and associated changes in morphology, cell-cycle distribution, ROS and p53 localization, but the findings do not establish clinical efficacy or safety.
