The American Heart Association has launched a National EMS Week initiative to improve emergency communication for cardiac arrest, heart attack, and stroke response, with input from 13 cities and support from T-Mobile.

The American Heart Association has launched a new initiative aimed at improving emergency communication for time-critical cardiac and stroke response, according to a release published Monday.

The effort is tied to National EMS Week and is designed to strengthen communication between dispatchers, EMS crews and receiving hospitals during cardiac arrest, heart attack and stroke emergencies. The AHA said the work will help inform recommendations for better coordination in those settings.

The association said it will gather input in 13 target cities, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and San Francisco. It said the initiative will involve EMS agency leadership, hospital executives and public health partners.

The findings will be folded into the AHA's Mission: Lifeline EMS program. The effort is supported by T-Mobile.

A NewMediaWire republication on the same day corroborated the announcement.
