Anthropic signs deal with SpaceX for AI supercomputer access

Anthropic has signed a deal that will give it access to SpaceX compute capacity, according to Reuters-sourced reporting published on May 6.

The agreement centers on Colossus 1 and is said to provide Anthropic with more than 300 megawatts of capacity and access to over 220,000 Nvidia GPUs. The added compute is expected to ease infrastructure constraints as demand for Anthropic’s models grows.

Anthropic said the new capacity will support Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers. The company also raised usage limits for Claude Code and API limits for Claude Opus models.

The deal is notable not just for its scale, but also for what it says about the market for AI infrastructure. Large model developers continue to compete for access to chips and power, and this agreement shows that even major labs are looking beyond their own systems to secure additional compute.

Anthropic has also expressed interest in future orbital AI compute collaboration with SpaceX, though the commercial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
