NASA says the Artemis II crew began flight day 5 with a spacesuit systems demonstration as the mission continues toward the Moon.
In its official blog update, NASA said the astronauts are testing the Orion crew survival system suits in space. The agency said the day includes donning the suits, pressurizing them, seating the crew, and using helmet ports.
NASA’s mission agenda says flight day 5 is when Orion enters the Moon’s sphere of influence. The schedule also includes the final outbound trajectory correction burn later in the day, setting up the lunar flyby planned for flight day 6.
Space.com’s live coverage independently matched NASA’s flight-day 5 plan, describing the day as one focused on suit testing and other onboard work.
The update marks another milestone in the crewed lunar flight as Orion moves deeper into its outbound trip. NASA has not indicated any major changes to the day’s plan in the material reviewed here.
