The train was operating as a free service for attendees of the XII Ruta de la Tapa y el Cóctel, a food-and-drink festival in the town. Three of those injured were minors, and four people were taken to hospital for assessment or treatment.
Officials said no serious injuries were reported. The municipality later suspended the tourist-train service after the accident.
Emergency response
Emergency services including 061, local police, the Guardia Civil and firefighters from Coín responded to the scene after the overturning.
The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. local time on June 13. Early reports suggested as many as 18 people had been hurt, but later reporting and the 112 Andalucía update settled on 17 injured people attended at the scene.
Investigation
The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation into what caused the wagon to overturn.
Authorities have not said whether the incident was linked to road conditions, handling or a mechanical problem. It was also not immediately clear whether any of the injured remained in hospital beyond the initial assessment.
