Babcock says it has agreed a two-year extension to its Future Maritime Support Programme with the UK Ministry of Defence.

The extension keeps Babcock in place as a support provider for Royal Navy surface ships. The company said the work includes ship engineering and management for Type 23 frigates, amphibious warfare ships, Sandown minehunters and landing craft vessels.

Babcock said the work will continue to be delivered mainly through its facilities at Devonport and Rosyth.

The announcement follows earlier uncertainty around the handoff of the program, which had been due to end in March 2026. A separate April 1 arrangement had already bridged part of the transition, but this new deal confirms a longer extension for the surface-ship side of the program.

No financial value for the extension was immediately disclosed in the available reporting.
