Clackamas County commissioners are set to vote on a proposed 10-year Axon contract that would add AI tools for the district attorney’s office.
Clackamas County commissioners are scheduled to vote on a proposed 10-year Axon contract that would add AI-assisted tools for evidence analysis and case preparation in the district attorney’s office.
OPB reported that the amendment is worth about $2 million and would move the office from Axon Justice Premier to Justice Premier Plus. The report said the proposal is on the county’s consent agenda for the April 9, 2026 Board Business Meeting.
County meeting pages confirm that an agenda review was scheduled for April 9. The county’s official records also show that Clackamas County already had an earlier Axon Justice Premier arrangement in place.
The proposed upgrade would give prosecutors new software features for reviewing evidence and preparing cases. The county has not publicly released any final vote outcome in the materials reviewed for this story.
The proposal comes as local governments continue to weigh whether AI tools can speed up public-safety work while still meeting privacy, accuracy and oversight concerns. For now, the question in Clackamas County is whether commissioners will approve the long-term contract and the newer AI-enabled package.
