Rachel Bloom will receive the Freedom of Expression Award at the 46th San Francisco Jewish Film Festival and present the West Coast premiere of 'Hollywood Does Abortion.'
Rachel Bloom will be honored at the 46th San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, where the former Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star is set to receive the Freedom of Expression Award and present the West Coast premiere of the documentary Hollywood Does Abortion.
The Jewish Film Institute said the festival will run July 16-Aug. 2 in San Francisco and the East Bay. The official SFJFF 46 page said the lineup was set to be revealed June 16, with early-bird ticket packages already on sale and general public ticket sales beginning June 18.
Bloom's honor comes as the festival rolls out a 2026 program that JFI says will open with Tell Me Everything at Herbst Theatre on July 16. The Chronicle reported that this year's festival will include 65 films from 17 countries, with 21 narratives, 24 documentaries and 20 shorts.
JFI Executive Director Lexi Leban praised Bloom's work in comments cited by the Chronicle, linking the award to her comedy and her focus on artistic freedom.
Bloom is best known for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, the musical comedy series she co-created and starred in. The documentary she will introduce, Hollywood Does Abortion, was described by the Chronicle as a project she executive produced.
The festival announcement gives SFJFF a fresh publicity push ahead of opening day and highlights one of its higher-profile honorees as ticket sales ramp up.
