Delta posted a same-day weather waiver for thunderstorms affecting travel to, from or through Atlanta and Detroit on April 4, according to its public advisories and agent bulletin.

Delta has issued a weather waiver for Eastern U.S. thunderstorms affecting travel to, from or through Atlanta and Detroit on April 4.

The airline's public advisory says the impacted cities are Atlanta, through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and Detroit, through Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. Delta's agent bulletin for the event was posted the same morning.

According to Delta, customers who rebook travel on or before April 7 in the same cabin can have fare differences waived. The airline also says cancelled flights tied to the weather event may be eligible for refunds under its exception policy.

Delta's weather advisory page listed the alert as active on April 4, and the airline said thunderstorms could disrupt travel in the affected markets.

The waiver gives travelers a short window to change plans without paying change fees, but Delta's rules still require rebooking within the stated period to qualify for the waiver benefits.

The airline has not said whether the advisory will expand beyond Atlanta and Detroit, and any operational changes later in the day could lead to an updated bulletin.
