Egypt’s foreign minister held talks with Qatar’s prime minister and foreign minister about US-Iran negotiations and broader regional de-escalation, according to official Egyptian and Qatari readouts.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke by phone with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani about developments in US-Iran negotiations and wider regional tensions, according to official Egyptian and Qatari readouts.

The statements said the two sides discussed regional developments and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions. Both governments said diplomacy and continued mediation remain the preferred path for resolving the crisis.

The call comes as Qatar has remained active in regional mediation efforts and as the US-Iran diplomatic track continues to draw attention across the Middle East. Egyptian state-linked reporting and Qatar’s foreign ministry both confirmed the substance of the discussion.

Earlier official readouts this month also showed the two countries were already coordinating on the same file, underscoring the continuing diplomatic focus on de-escalation and a negotiated settlement.
