The European Union has released nearly EUR2.8 billion to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility after the Council approved the seventh regular payment following reform progress in Kyiv.

The European Union has released nearly EUR2.8 billion to Ukraine under its Ukraine Facility, according to reporting on Monday.

The payment follows the European Council's approval on May 28 of the seventh regular tranche under the plan, after officials said Ukraine had completed 11 of the 20 reform steps required for the disbursement.

The Ukraine Facility is the EU's main support package for Ukraine, providing more than EUR50 billion in grants and loans for recovery, reconstruction and modernisation from 2024 to 2027.

The European Commission says the funding is part of ongoing EU support for Ukraine as it continues to fight Russia's invasion.

The latest release adds to a series of EU payments under the facility as Brussels keeps pressure on Kyiv to continue reforms while maintaining financial backing for the country’s war effort and wider recovery needs.
