The Senate confirmed David LaCerte for a second term on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on May 18, 2026, extending his appointment through June 30, 2031.

The U.S. Senate has confirmed Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Commissioner David LaCerte for a second term, extending his appointment through June 30, 2031.

FERC said it posted the confirmation on May 18, 2026. The commission said LaCerte was first sworn in on October 27, 2025.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee had already listed LaCerte’s nomination for a term ending June 30, 2031, and the Senate executive calendar reflected the same end date before the confirmation vote.

FERC is the independent agency that oversees interstate electricity, natural gas and oil pipeline infrastructure in the United States. A confirmed commissioner can help shape decisions on rates, infrastructure approvals and market rules.

LaCerte’s second-term confirmation settles the timeline for his seat and keeps him on the commission through the end of June 2031.
