Fraunhofer WKI has named Raoul Klingner as its new institute director in Braunschweig, formalizing a leadership change that the institute says took effect on May 15, 2026.
The announcement was published by Fraunhofer WKI on May 18 and also surfaced on Fraunhofer’s main newsroom. The institute said Klingner had been serving as acting institute director since October 1, 2024 before moving into the permanent role.
Alongside the institute post, Klingner is also taking over the professorship for Organic and Wood-Based Materials at TU Braunschweig, according to the announcement.
Fraunhofer WKI did not cite any further leadership changes in the release. The appointment gives the institute a permanent director after more than a year with Klingner in an acting capacity.
