Giants draft Arvell Reese and Francis Mauigoa in Round 1

The Giants turned both of their top-10 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft into defensive and offensive line help, selecting Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese at No. 5 and Miami offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa at No. 10.

Official team coverage and NFL.com both confirmed the picks, and Giants.com later noted that Mauigoa is expected to begin his NFL career at guard. The team also described Reese as an inside linebacker fit.

The selections give New York two high-end prospects at positions that were clear needs. Reese brings speed and range to the defense, while Mauigoa adds size and physicality up front.

The Giants' draft tracker and follow-up coverage suggest the club wanted to address both its front seven and its offensive protection in the same round. That approach also gives the team flexibility heading into the rest of the draft.

The next question is whether the Giants make any trades or roster moves later in the draft, but Round 1 already gave them two foundational additions.
