The government has granted development consent for Springwell Solar Farm, a major solar and battery project in North Kesteven.

The government has approved Springwell Solar Farm, a project described as the UK's largest solar farm, in North Kesteven.

BBC News reported the decision on Wednesday, and the developer's website says development consent was granted on April 8, 2026.

The scheme is planned between Lincoln and Sleaford and includes battery storage. The developer says it could power more than 180,000 homes.

Springwell Solar Farm is one of the latest large-scale renewable energy projects to win approval through the national infrastructure planning process, where the Secretary of State makes the final decision.

The approval is a significant step for the project, but the full decision letter and any conditions attached to the consent were not included in the material reviewed.
