Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis visited Tripoli for talks on migration, maritime borders and economic cooperation with Libyan officials.
Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis visited Tripoli on April 27 for talks with Libyan officials on migration, maritime borders and broader economic ties.
According to the Greek foreign ministry, Gerapetritis was scheduled to meet Mohamed Al Menfi, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, Taher Al Baour and Khalifa Rajab Abdulsadek. Reporting from Kathimerini said the talks focused heavily on delimiting the continental shelf and exclusive economic zones.
The sides also agreed to activate a joint committee and continue technical discussions on maritime delimitation, according to Kathimerini. AFP coverage said the Libyan side framed the migration discussion around burden-sharing and security cooperation.
Africanews and AP also reported that the talks covered economic cooperation, including energy, infrastructure and maritime transport. That makes the visit part of a wider effort to reset ties between the two countries while they manage a long-running dispute over sea boundaries and migration pressure.
The immediate next step is whether the joint committee and technical teams turn the political talks into a concrete timetable or draft agreement.
