FAA departures at O'Hare were briefly halted Tuesday morning as thunderstorms moved through Chicago, then the ground stop was lifted around 8:20 a.m. CDT.

A brief FAA ground stop at Chicago O'Hare was lifted Monday morning after thunderstorms moved through the Chicago area.

CBS Chicago reported that departures were under a ground stop at 7:45 a.m. and that the restriction was lifted around 8:20 a.m. CDT. FOX 32 Chicago also reported that the stop ended after the morning storm system passed through.

The FAA's airport status page for ORD continued to show weather-related delays tied to thunderstorms later in the day, and Chicago's airport delay tracker also showed ongoing disruptions at O'Hare after the ground stop ended.

The brief stoppage affected departures during the morning travel period, but the available reporting indicates service resumed the same morning. Additional delays were still possible as the weather system moved through the region.
