A federal judge dismissed most of Blake Lively’s claims against Justin Baldoni, narrowing but not ending the lawsuit.
A federal judge in New York has dismissed most of Blake Lively’s claims against Justin Baldoni, narrowing the legal battle between the two stars weeks before trial.
AP reported Thursday that the judge tossed out the bulk of Lively’s sexual harassment claims, while leaving some retaliation-related claims in place. Other coverage said the ruling allows a smaller set of claims to proceed, including allegations tied to retaliation and, in one report, breach of contract and aiding and abetting retaliation.
The case stems from the It Ends With Us dispute and has become one of Hollywood’s most closely watched legal fights. The ruling does not end the litigation, but it does materially reduce the scope of Lively’s case heading into trial.
Lively’s attorneys called the decision a victory, while Baldoni’s lawyer said the court invited amendment of some claims and that the fight is not over.
The mixed reporting on exactly which claims survive suggests the written order may continue to be parsed in the days ahead, but the immediate effect is clear: the judge has sharply narrowed Lively’s lawsuit without dismissing it entirely.
