Game 4 ticket prices for the Knicks-Spurs NBA Finals matchup at Madison Square Garden fell to a game-day low of $3,383 including fees after New York’s Game 3 loss, while MSG and city officials clashed over a scaled-back, then canceled, outdoor watch party under expanded security restrictions.
The cheapest tickets for Knicks Game 4 at Madison Square Garden fell to a game-day low of $3,383 including fees on Wednesday as New York’s Game 3 loss changed the market around the NBA Finals matchup.
The move capped a steep two-day slide in resale prices. New York Post reporting tied the floor to SeatGeek listings, with the cheapest ticket at $9,280 on Monday, $4,585 on Tuesday and then $3,383 on game day.
That drop came after San Antonio beat New York 115-111 in Game 3, ending the Knicks’ chance to wrap up the series at home in Game 4. Once the possibility of a clincher disappeared, demand eased and the floor price followed.
Security and the watch party
The ticket market was only part of the Game 4 story. New York City kept a restricted security zone around MSG after the crowd chaos and arrests that followed Game 3 in Bryant Park.
AP reported that the NYPD blocked access around the arena except for people with tickets or valid business reasons, saying the restrictions were driven by safety concerns. The city’s response also reflected the disorder that followed the previous game and the pressure created by Trump’s attendance at Game 3.
City officials approved a scaled-down outdoor watch party for as many as 1,000 people, but MSG later canceled the event hours before tipoff. That left fans without the public gathering that had been planned outside the arena.
MSG owner James Dolan criticized Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, arguing the perimeter was unnecessary and objecting to the continued restrictions around the building. City officials, by contrast, said the tighter rules were needed to manage safety and crowd control.
What to watch at tipoff
Game 4 was scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET on June 10. The main open question heading into tipoff was whether the $3,383 floor would hold in the final hours before the game or move again as demand changed.
The other uncertainty was how the security perimeter and canceled watch party would affect turnout and the atmosphere around Madison Square Garden. Nearby businesses and fans were facing a far more controlled game-day setup than usual, with less of the standard buildup outside the arena.
The broader backdrop remained the same: a Knicks team that had been one win from a potential closeout game, a market that reacted immediately to the Game 3 result, and a city still trying to balance celebration with crowd safety.
