Kodiak AI said it supports the BUILD America 250 Act after the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee said the bill includes the first autonomous commercial motor vehicle framework.

Kodiak AI has endorsed the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s BUILD America 250 Act, saying the bill would create a federal framework for autonomous trucks.

The company said on May 18 that the legislation would replace a patchwork of state rules with a national standard for autonomous commercial vehicles. The statement follows the committee’s May 17 announcement that the bipartisan five-year surface transportation reauthorization package includes what it called the first autonomous commercial motor vehicle framework.

The committee said the framework is part of the BUILD America 250 Act, a broader transportation bill negotiated by committee leaders. Kodiak’s support adds an industry voice to the developing debate over how autonomous trucks should be regulated in the United States.

The American Trucking Associations also backed the legislation, saying it has long supported a national framework for autonomous commercial vehicles.

The policy language could still evolve as the bill moves through Congress, but the current proposal marks a notable federal step for autonomous trucking rules.
