KRA has warned that a vehicle auction notice circulating online is fake and did not originate from the authority. The agency told the public to rely on its official website and verified channels for auction information and to report suspicious messages.
The Kenya Revenue Authority has warned the public about a fake vehicle auction notice circulating online.
The authority said the notice, which is being shared on social media and messaging apps, did not originate from KRA. The fraudulent message uses KRA branding and lists several vehicles, including Toyota, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Land Cruiser models.
KRA urged members of the public to verify any auction information through its official website and verified communication channels. It also asked people to report suspicious messages, links or auction notices.
Official channels
KRA publishes its public notices and customs auction information through its own website. The warning comes as fake notices continue to circulate online and target people looking for vehicle auction opportunities.
The authority did not indicate whether the notice had already been taken down or whether it would issue a separate follow-up statement.
