Lincraft has confirmed it will progressively close its physical store network across Australia and New Zealand while keeping its online business open. The company said the decision is deeply emotional and that it will focus on supporting staff through the transition.

Lincraft will progressively close its physical stores across Australia and New Zealand over the coming months, ending more than 80 years of bricks-and-mortar retail presence while keeping its online business open.

The company confirmed the move in an email to Lincraft Club members on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Managing director John Maguire said the decision was difficult and deeply emotional, and that the priority is supporting team members through the transition.

What Lincraft said

Lincraft said it will continue trading online as it closes its store network. Reporting says the retailer has more than 60 stores across Australia and New Zealand.

The company said it has served creative communities in both countries for more than 80 years.

What is known so far

The available reporting does not give exact closure dates for individual stores. It says the shutdowns will happen progressively over the coming months.

That leaves open questions about the pace of the transition, whether liquidation sales will be held, and how many employees will be affected.

For customers, the change means the brand will remain available online, but local physical shops will disappear. For workers, the company has said support for staff is its immediate focus.
