Luis García Abad said the Madrid F1 project is on schedule, with the first asphalt layer already laid and the circuit still targeting a September 2026 debut.

Luis García Abad says the Madrid Formula 1 project remains on schedule, with the first asphalt layer already laid at the Madring circuit site.

In a fresh interview published by AS on April 8, 2026, the Madring general manager said Formula 1 “doesn’t imagine what Madrid can give,” while stressing that construction is moving forward as planned.

The update is backed by official Madring material, which says work began in April 2025 and is expected to be completed by May 2026. The site also says construction has moved through the Valdebebas area, the IFEMA zone and surrounding public roads.

Formula 1 has already confirmed Madrid for the 2026-2035 period on a new circuit that will mix street and non-street sections. Madring’s official information says the Spanish Grand Prix is scheduled for September 11-13, 2026.

The latest comments from García Abad are a further sign that organizers see the project as on track ahead of its planned debut on the F1 calendar.
