Magic’s Franz Wagner calf injury now looks like a strain, status uncertain for Game 5

Franz Wagner’s Game 4 calf issue has moved from postgame tightness to a reported right calf strain, leaving his status uncertain for Game 5 against the Pistons.

Wagner exited Game 4 with right calf soreness and did not return. After the game, he said the calf tightened up and that he would get an MRI on Tuesday.

Later reporting says that MRI showed a right calf strain. CBS Sports and Hoops Rumors both reported that Wagner is questionable or otherwise up in the air for Wednesday’s Game 5.

The latest coverage suggests the strain is likely mild, but Orlando still does not have a firm answer on availability. That makes Wagner one of the key injury stories heading into the next game of the series.

The shift from “tightness” to “strain” matters because it changes the framing from routine soreness to a more specific injury concern. Even so, the reporting so far does not point to a long-term timetable, only uncertainty for the next game.
