Malibu officials issued a boil-water advisory after the Lower Busch Tank was found unsecured, prompting bottled-water distribution and testing.
Malibu residents in a limited area are being told to use boiled tap water or bottled water after officials said the Lower Busch Tank was found unsecured.
The City of Malibu posted the advisory on April 4, saying Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29 discovered the issue on April 3. Officials said the water system may have been compromised and that testing is underway.
The advisory applies to customers near Busch Drive and Cuthbert Road and Phillips Avenue and Sea View Drive. The city said residents will be notified when test results show the water is safe to drink.
Bottled water is being distributed at the Waterworks Malibu Office at 23533 West Civic Center Way on April 4 and April 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
County recovery resources also say active drinking-water advisories are in effect in Malibu. For now, the city is treating the alert as a precaution while the water supply is checked.
Residents in the affected area should follow the boil-water instructions until officials lift the advisory.
