Marcos approves Batangas ecozone expansion

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved the expansion of the First Philippine Industrial Park II special economic zone in Sto. Tomas City, Batangas.

Reporting from GMA News and PortCalls said the expansion was signed through Proclamation No. 1206 on March 30, 2026. The measure adds four parcels of land in Barangay San Rafael, covering a total of 71,982 square meters.

The expansion was recommended by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority board of directors, according to the reports.

FPIP II is one of Batangas’ major industrial ecozones and is associated with First Philippine Holdings and Sumitomo Corporation. The additional land is expected to support further industrial development and investment activity in the area.

The approval adds to the government’s broader push to expand economic zones and attract manufacturing investment outside Metro Manila.
