San Diego County is seeing another stretch of low clouds and fog as forecasts call for near-normal to slightly below-normal temperatures this weekend, followed by a bigger cooldown for Memorial Day and early next week.
San Diego County is heading into the Memorial Day weekend with more of the same May gray: low clouds, patchy fog and a cooling trend that is expected to deepen early next week.
The National Weather Service updated its coastal forecast for San Diego County on Saturday morning, and local forecasts from 10News and NBC 7 both point to lingering marine-layer clouds through the weekend.
Forecasters say some beach communities could stay cloudy into the afternoon, while inland areas should clear sooner. NBC 7 said inland areas are expected to see clearing Friday morning, but coastal clearing will be slower.
Temperatures are expected to stay near to slightly below normal this weekend, with a bigger cooldown arriving for Memorial Day. NBC 7 said the marine layer should deepen each night, spreading farther inland overnight before clearing by mid-morning or early afternoon.
Looking ahead, stronger low pressure early next week could bring a deeper marine layer, gustier west winds and a slight chance of light showers by midweek. Forecast confidence is lower on that shower chance, but the broader cooling trend appears well supported by the latest guidance.
