Tadej Pogacar won the Tour of Flanders for a record-equalling third time after a late attack that left Mathieu van der Poel behind.

Tadej Pogacar won the Tour of Flanders on Sunday, equalling the race record with a third victory after a dominant late attack.

Multiple reports, including the official Flanders Classics race report, said Pogacar dropped Mathieu van der Poel on the decisive climbs and rode away for another solo win in Oudenaarde. The Guardian and AP reported that he made his move with about 18 kilometers to go.

The result gives Pogacar a record-equalling third Tour of Flanders title. Remco Evenepoel finished third, with Wout van Aert fourth, according to race reports.

The victory underlines Pogacar’s status as the standout rider in the spring classics and adds another Monument to his palmarès.

Flanders Classics said Pogacar had again delivered a solo triumph on the Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg, the climbs that often decide the race.
