A late-Thursday fire at Rogers Corp.'s Woodstock, Connecticut plant sent flames shooting from the roof, prompted a second alarm and an evacuation, but caused no injuries. Fire officials said the blaze was largely contained by the facility’s own fire protection system and that the cause remains under investigation.

A late-Thursday fire at Rogers Corp.'s manufacturing plant in Woodstock, Connecticut, sent flames reported as high as 20 feet into the air, but workers evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.

Officials said the call came in around 11:30 p.m. on June 19 and prompted a second alarm response from the Muddy Brook Fire Department. Workers at the plant reported flames shooting from the roof before firefighters arrived.

What firefighters found

Firefighters said the blaze was localized in the building's ventilation system. Much of the fire had already been subdued by the facility's own fire protection system by the time crews entered the building.

Crews used a drone with thermal imaging to check for remaining hot spots before clearing the scene.

Investigation underway

The Woodstock Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

So far, officials have not said what sparked the blaze or whether it caused damage to equipment or interrupted production at the plant.

Rogers Corp. operates the Woodstock facility, which is in northeastern Connecticut. The incident was treated as a structure fire at a manufacturing plant, not a wider-area emergency.
