Noida International Airport in Jewar is set to handle its first cargo flight on June 17, just days after beginning passenger operations and as the new airport expands into freight.
Noida International Airport in Jewar is set to handle its first cargo flight on Tuesday, marking an early move into freight operations just days after the new airport began passenger service.
The milestone comes after flight operations began on June 15, when an IndiGo service to Lucknow reportedly became the airport’s first commercial passenger flight. On June 16, Akasa Air also began operations from the airport, according to earlier reporting.
Early ramp-up
The cargo move highlights how quickly the airport is expanding beyond passenger traffic. Local reporting described the first cargo movement as domestic and framed it as an operational milestone for the airport serving the Delhi-NCR region.
The airport is located in Jewar, in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district, and has been positioned as both a passenger airport and a logistics hub for northern India.
What is not yet clear
Public reporting has not fully identified the airline or cargo operator handling the flight, or the exact origin and destination of the shipment. It is also unclear whether this is a one-off inaugural movement or the start of regular cargo service.
Even so, the launch gives Noida International Airport an early freight capability at a stage when the airport is still rolling out its broader commercial operations.
