Noida schools move Classes 1 to 8 to earlier hours under heat advisory

District authorities in Gautam Buddh Nagar have moved school hours earlier for Classes 1 to 8 in Noida and Greater Noida because of persistent heat.

The revised schedule took effect on June 29, 2026. Schools have been directed to run from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. until further orders.

The change was issued by the District Basic Education Officer and is meant to reduce heat exposure for younger students during commuting and school hours.

What changed

The order applies to schools in both Noida and Greater Noida, which together fall under Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The timing shift covers students in Classes 1 to 8.

A separate Hindi-language report also said the district administration changed school timings in Noida and that the order applies across boards.

Weather context

The decision comes during a spell of intense heat in Delhi-NCR. An Economic Times report on June 29 said rain brought some relief after the heat, but the India Meteorological Department had issued a yellow alert for the coming days.

The immediate question now is whether the district will extend, relax or replace the order if temperatures stay high.

Schools, parents and managements will be watching for any fresh notice from the district administration.
