NVIDIA and IREN announced a strategic partnership to deploy up to 5 gigawatts of AI infrastructure, with NVIDIA given a five-year option to buy up to 30 million IREN shares.

NVIDIA and IREN said they have formed a strategic partnership to accelerate deployment of up to 5 gigawatts of AI infrastructure.

The companies announced the deal on May 7, 2026. According to the announcement, the deployment is intended to support NVIDIA DSX-aligned infrastructure across IREN’s data center pipeline, with early activity expected around IREN’s Sweetwater campus in Texas.

The agreement also gives NVIDIA a five-year right to purchase up to 30 million IREN ordinary shares at $70 per share. If fully exercised, that would represent a potential investment of up to $2.1 billion, subject to conditions including regulatory approval.

The partnership is significant because it links one of the biggest names in AI chips to a large-scale data center buildout at a time when power and capacity remain key constraints for the sector.

Market coverage said the announcement helped drive strong interest in IREN shares. The deal itself, however, is still subject to the usual execution and approval steps before full deployment can begin.
