Observable Space said it closed a $90 million Series A and separately won a $94 million U.S. Space Force IDIQ award under the Department of War's APFIT program.
The company said the funding round was led by Lux Capital and co-led by Upfront Ventures, Detroit Venture Partners, Island Green Capital, and RTX Ventures. Observable Space said the capital will support manufacturing scale-up for its turnkey laser communications platform.
Observable Space also said the Space Force award totals $94 million, with $22 million initially awarded to deploy mobile optical sensing stations. The company described the contract as sole-sourced and tied to APFIT, a Pentagon effort aimed at accelerating promising defense technologies.
Bloomberg Law reported the financing the same day, and StartupFortune also reported the funding and contract details. The company posted its own announcement on May 28.
The deal combines a large first-round raise with a significant government procurement win, giving Observable Space both capital and an early defense customer as it works to expand production and deployment.
