Osaka cracks Paris milestone

Naomi Osaka reached the French Open round of 16 for the first time on Saturday after a three-set victory over Iva Jovic at Roland-Garros.

Osaka won 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 6-4 in the third round, finally breaking through in Paris after a tight, three-set match. The result sends her into the fourth round at Roland-Garros for the first time in her career.

The match had momentum swings throughout. Osaka took the opening set in a tiebreak, Jovic responded by taking the second set in another tiebreak, and Osaka closed it out in the decider.

Associated Press reported that Osaka will face Aryna Sabalenka next. Reuters also reported the win and described it as Osaka's first French Open fourth-round appearance.

The victory marks a notable Paris milestone for Osaka, who has been a major figure on the women's tour but had not previously reached this stage at Roland-Garros.
