Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd are set to play the Connecticut Sun in Hartford on Thursday, a matchup that is drawing strong local interest, ticket demand and added significance as the Sun prepare to leave Connecticut in 2027.
Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd are headed back to Connecticut this week for a game that is part reunion, part ticket rush and part look at the future of the franchise on the other side of the floor.
The Dallas Wings will play the Connecticut Sun on Thursday, July 3, at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford. CT Insider reported the game is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will stream on Amazon Prime Video.
The matchup has extra pull in Connecticut because Bueckers and Fudd are former UConn stars. It also arrives as the Sun are widely expected to play one of their last Hartford dates before the franchise's planned move to Houston in 2027.
Why this game matters
The local appeal is obvious: two of the most prominent players in recent UConn women's basketball history are returning to Hartford in a WNBA game that brings them back in front of the fan base that watched them rise.
That interest has turned into a ticket story as well. CT Insider reported that tickets were still available through multiple platforms, with prices ranging from about $60 to more than $2,400 as of Thursday afternoon.
The game also has broader significance for the Sun. AP reported in March that the franchise had reached a deal to sell to Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta and planned to move to Houston in 2027, pending league approval.
What to expect in Hartford
CT Insider reported the Hartford game is the Sun's last home date in Connecticut this season and the final Connecticut game this season for Bueckers and Fudd.
A free Fan Fest is also scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Pratt Street before tipoff, giving fans an earlier entry point to the night.
For the Wings, the game is another chance to feature Bueckers and Fudd together after AP reported in April that Dallas selected Fudd No. 1 overall in the WNBA draft, pairing her again with her former UConn teammate. Bueckers, who was drafted No. 1 overall in 2025, made her WNBA debut for Dallas last season.
The result on the court will matter, but Thursday's crowd may be the bigger story in Hartford: a former UConn reunion, a strong local ticket draw and a possible farewell setting for the Sun in Connecticut.
