Philips has launched SmartIQ, a coronary imaging technology for its Azurion platform that it says can reduce X-ray exposure while preserving image quality. The company plans to show the system at EuroPCR 2026 in Paris.
Philips has introduced SmartIQ, a coronary imaging technology for its Azurion image-guided therapy platform, as the company looks to reduce the trade-off between image quality and radiation dose in cath lab procedures.
The company said SmartIQ is designed to improve image quality while lowering X-ray exposure during coronary procedures. Philips said its ultra-low-dose protocol uses more than 50% less X-ray radiation than current low-dose settings.
Philips announced the product on May 18, 2026, and said it would showcase SmartIQ at EuroPCR 2026 in Paris from May 19 to 22.
The launch adds to Philips' efforts in interventional cardiology, where clinicians balance the need for detailed imaging against the goal of limiting radiation exposure to patients and staff.
Philips' announcement did not include a commercial rollout timeline for every market, and it is unclear when the product will be broadly available. The company also has not published full independent clinical data beyond the materials cited in its launch announcement.
For now, SmartIQ appears positioned as a new dose-reduction upgrade within Philips' coronary imaging portfolio, with the clearest near-term milestone being its public debut at EuroPCR.
