The White House says Trump has ordered Treasury to create TrumpIRA.gov, a federal site to help workers without employer plans access retirement savings options.
The White House says President Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing the Treasury Department to create TrumpIRA.gov, a federal website aimed at expanding retirement-savings access for workers without employer-sponsored plans.
According to the order and the accompanying fact sheet, the site is meant to help independent contractors, self-employed workers, part-time workers and small-business workers find high-quality, low-cost private-sector IRAs. It will also explain eligibility for the Saver’s Match, a federal retirement contribution program.
The White House says Treasury must establish the site by January 1, 2027. The order adds that the platform should help workers compare retirement-savings options and understand how to participate in the match program.
Reuters, AP, Bloomberg and CNN all reported the order on April 30, confirming the same basic policy direction and website plan.
The practical significance is that the administration is trying to make retirement-savings tools easier to find for people who do not have an employer plan. What remains to be seen is how Treasury builds the site and how much uptake it gets once it goes live next year.
