The Texas Rangers selected left-hander Robby Ahlstrom from Triple-A Round Rock and recalled infielder Cody Freeman on Monday ahead of their series opener against the Cardinals in St. Louis.
The roster move gives Ahlstrom his first shot in the majors. Reporting around the transaction said he was set to make his MLB debut as the Rangers opened the series at Busch Stadium.
Freeman is returning to the big league club after dealing with a lumbar stress reaction. Coverage said he had recently gone back to Round Rock on a brief rehab and option sequence before being recalled.
The Rangers officially confirmed the transaction on June 1, 2026.
Both players were part of a day that also included other roster shuffling for Texas as it prepared for the series in St. Louis.
