The Reds placed Eugenio Suárez on the 10-day injured list with a mild left oblique strain after scratching him from Friday's lineup.

The Reds placed Eugenio Suárez on the 10-day injured list on April 25, retroactive to April 23, after he was diagnosed with a mild left oblique strain.

Suárez was scratched from Friday’s lineup against the Tigers after feeling discomfort during batting practice. Reds manager Terry Francona said imaging showed a low-grade oblique issue and suggested the club would check on him again after several days if he improved.

Nathaniel Lowe filled in as designated hitter on Friday and is expected to help cover the position while Suárez is out.

The move adds another early-season injury setback for Cincinnati and removes one of its lineup regulars for at least the minimum IL stay. The team has not yet announced a longer-term timetable beyond that window.
