Republic of Congo president holds talks with his Russian counterpart

Republic of Congo President Denis Sassou Nguesso held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on April 29, following a state visit that brought the two leaders together at the Kremlin.

The Kremlin said the meeting would cover bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues. Reporting from multiple outlets said the agenda also included energy, logistics, agriculture, trade and investment.

Reuters photo coverage confirmed the leaders met in Moscow, while TASS and Anadolu reported on the meeting and the broader diplomatic context. Earlier reporting said Sassou Nguesso had arrived in Moscow for the state visit on April 28.

The talks add another layer to Russia’s outreach in Africa, where Moscow has been looking to deepen political and economic ties. For Congo, the meeting offers a chance to expand cooperation with a major external partner as the two governments continue discussing future collaboration.
