Midland RockHounds shortstop Leo De Vries and left-hander Jamie Arnold were selected for the 2026 MLB All-Star Futures Game, giving Midland two representatives in the showcase.

Midland will send two of its top prospects to MLB All-Star Week.

Leo De Vries and Jamie Arnold were selected to represent the Athletics in the 2026 All-Star Futures Game, giving the RockHounds two players on the prospect showcase roster. The game is scheduled for July 12 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia and will be televised on NBC.

De Vries is listed as a shortstop for the RockHounds, while Arnold is a left-handed pitcher. The Midland Reporter-Telegram reported that De Vries entered Wednesday hitting .283 with nine home runs, 31 RBIs, 45 runs scored and 28 stolen bases. Arnold was 3-5 with a 4.24 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 70 innings.

Why it matters

The selection puts two of the Athletics' highest-profile prospects on a national stage during All-Star Week. The report identified Arnold as the organization's No. 2 prospect and De Vries as the No. 2 overall prospect in MLB Pipeline.

It also gives Midland a bigger presence in one of baseball's main prospect events, which often serves as a showcase for players nearing the next step in their development.

Recent form

Both players have been regular contributors for the RockHounds this season.

A June 26 RockHounds story described Arnold throwing six innings in a 3-hit shutout outing against Wichita. A June 3 report said De Vries went 3-for-6 with two RBIs in a win over Northwest Arkansas.

The Futures Game is part of MLB's All-Star Week calendar and is designed to spotlight top prospects from around the sport. With the game still ahead on July 12, the next checkpoint is whether MLB or the Athletics add any further roster news, quotes or lineup updates before the showcase.
