Route 66 in Hebron reopened Friday morning after a late-night two-car crash knocked down a utility pole and wires, closed part of the road at Stone House Road and caused a power outage in the town center.

A late-night crash on Route 66 in Hebron closed part of the road and knocked out power in the town center before the roadway reopened Friday morning.

According to Connecticut State Police and Hebron officials, two vehicles were traveling east on Route 66, also known as West Main Street in that area, around 11:38 p.m. Thursday when the collision set off the disruption.

One vehicle struck a utility pole, and another hit downed utility wires. No injuries were reported.

The crash forced a closure of Route 66 at Stone House Road while crews worked overnight on the damage. Hebron officials said Eversource was repairing the utility equipment.

Power to the town center was restored by Friday morning, and Route 66 reopened shortly before 9 a.m.

The incident briefly affected road access and electricity in the center of town, but officials did not report additional safety issues. Police have not released further details about what caused the first vehicle to strike the pole or whether any citations were issued.
