Santa Fe County says it will begin water utility repairs in Valle Vista and Pueblo Garcia on June 1, installing isolation valves to limit future outages after February’s water problems.

Santa Fe County says it will begin water utility work in Valle Vista and Pueblo Garcia on June 1, 2026, in a project meant to make repairs easier and reduce the risk of future outages.

The county says the work will install isolation valves so smaller sections of the system can be shut off during maintenance. Officials said the need for the project was identified during the February water outage in Valle Vista.

County officials said the work could take up to three months.

The Board of County Commissioners approved procurement for the Valle Vista Isolation Valve Replacement Project on March 31.

The county has also scheduled a public meeting for May 27, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Rancho Viejo Fire Station.

The project is the latest step in the county’s response to the water problems that affected Valle Vista earlier this year. Officials have not said whether the work will cause additional outages, and the county has not given a more specific completion date beyond the three-month estimate.
