SEC appoints David Woodcock as director of enforcement division

The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed David Woodcock as director of the Division of Enforcement, the agency said on Wednesday.

The appointment is effective May 4, 2026.

According to the SEC, Woodcock is currently a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Dallas and Washington, D.C. He previously served as the SEC's Fort Worth regional director.

The enforcement division is one of the agency's most closely watched units, handling investigations and cases involving potential violations of U.S. securities laws.

The SEC made the announcement in an official press release and did not include additional details about any immediate policy changes.
