Severe weather delays start at San Antonio school district

Harlandale Independent School District delayed the start of all summer school programs Monday, June 15, pushing classes and related activities back to 9 a.m. because flash flooding and hazardous roads made travel difficult in San Antonio.

The delay covered summer school, ACE camps and summer activities. Transportation also ran on a delayed schedule.

The district told families about the change by email, according to local coverage.

Weather and road impacts

The schedule shift came as the National Weather Service kept a flash flood warning in effect for the San Antonio area through 10:45 a.m. Monday. A broader flood watch covered South-Central Texas through Tuesday evening.

Local reports said flooding had already led to road closures in the city, including multiple westbound lanes on Highway 90 at Cupples Road.
