Jannik Sinner beat Arthur Fils in straight sets to reach the Madrid Open final and continue his run toward a fifth straight Masters 1000 title.
Jannik Sinner beat Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4 in the Madrid Open semifinals to reach the final and keep his bid for a fifth straight Masters 1000 title alive.
The Italian was in control for much of the match and extended his winning streak to 22 matches. The ATP said the result also made him the youngest man to reach finals at all nine ATP Masters 1000 events.
Sinner's place in the final was confirmed by the ATP and by multiple reports on May 1. He is now set to face Alexander Zverev in the championship match.
The victory adds another milestone to a strong clay-court run in Madrid. It also keeps Sinner on course for a title that would further strengthen his hold on the top of the men's game.
For Fils, the semifinal exit ends an impressive run in the Spanish capital. For Sinner, it adds another record to a season that has already turned into one of the most dominant stretches of his career.
