Multiple reports say the 76ers agreed to a four-year, $39 million deal with Dean Wade and that Quentin Grimes is headed to the Lakers on a four-year, $60 million contract. Philadelphia also added Ariel Hukporti as free agency opened.
The 76ers' first wave of free-agency business has reshaped the roster around reported additions and exits on both ends of the floor.
Multiple reports say Philadelphia agreed to a four-year, $39 million deal with forward Dean Wade. Other coverage says the team also added center Ariel Hukporti on a one-year, $3.4 million contract.
At the same time, Quentin Grimes is reportedly leaving Philadelphia for the Los Angeles Lakers on a four-year, $60 million deal that includes a player option.
Early free-agency moves
NBA free agency opened on June 30, and the Sixers moved quickly. A Liberty Ballers roster update on June 30 listed Wade among Philadelphia’s current standard-contract players, and later reporting said the Wade agreement was the first signing under new president of basketball operations Mike Gansey.
The same tracker also said Philadelphia exercised options on Dominick Barlow and Dalen Terry and declined Trendon Watford’s option.
What the moves mean
Wade gives the Sixers another frontcourt piece and affects how the team allocates its cap room at the start of the offseason. The reported move also comes with Gansey having prior familiarity with Wade from Cleveland.
Grimes’ departure matters just as much on the other side of the ball. He was a significant rotation player for Philadelphia in the 2025-26 season, and his reported move to Los Angeles changes the Sixers’ backcourt and scoring depth.
What comes next
The main open questions are whether the Wade and Grimes deals are fully finalized in official league paperwork and how Philadelphia uses the rest of its cap flexibility. The Sixers still appear to have room to add another wing or power forward as free agency continues.
