Metasports Interactive said it raised $20 million from Metica in a user acquisition financing round to expand Hitwicket globally.

Metasports Interactive has raised $20 million from Metica in a user acquisition financing deal aimed at scaling its game Hitwicket.

The company said the funding is non-dilutive and tied to performance, with the capital earmarked for marketing, user acquisition and international expansion. Coverage from Moneycontrol, YourStory and DealStreetAsia all reported the same deal on April 27.

Metasports said it is targeting roughly 8x growth over the next 18 months. Metica will also provide technology designed to improve in-game revenue performance, according to the reports.

The structure is notable because it gives the startup growth capital without the equity dilution of a traditional venture round. For Metasports, that could make it easier to spend aggressively on user acquisition while keeping ownership intact.

The announcement adds another data point to India's startup funding market, where founders are increasingly experimenting with alternatives to standard equity financing. The key question now is how quickly Hitwicket can turn that capital into measurable growth.
